Domain Name Extensions - TheTruthHurts.com

I've been getting a lot of people asking me about the coming explosion in domain name extensions and what this will mean for them, their competition and the search engines overall and I tell everyone the same thing: "When was the last time you went to a .ts website?"
Domain name registrars, including the ICANN who is supposed to restrict and regulate all of this, benefit from selling you these extensions. Period. They don't care if they'll ever be useful, indexed or appear anywhere anytime, sorry. Domain names and the extensions that allow one to become several mostly only benefit the registrar taking your money to secure the domains and the offered variations.
Now do not get me wrong, domain name herding and accrual is like buying cheap land in Malibu way back in the day: You cannot lose if you have a decent thought process behind the domain names as well as the forethought that it may be years before they do you any good if you've bought them as speculative investments and all the .com, .net and .org variations should be secured as well if available so that your competition doesn't get those if nothing else.
What about domain names that are keyword rich for your business? These will go a lot farther in driving traffic to your site then new .weird extension ever will.
Your website can have as many domain names pointing to it as you wish. Are you doing all you can for your business and to keep your competition one-step behind you?
