For a long, long time I have battled the notion that off-the-shelf websites are viable due to the following reasons:
1) Vulnerability - if one gets hacked, they all get hacked and it happens more often then it should.
2) Why make employees web designers? Is this what they do well? If so, they can probably make edits to your HTML or shopping cart website anyway then. If not, Word Press can still be a bit tricky so how much time is justifiable in getting the job done right?
3) Why they are easy to use, they are not totally absent of the requirement for some understanding of HTML and graphic manipulations.
So given these things, why are we now offering Word Press sites as an option to our custom designs and programming? For the right customer, they do make sense for the following reasons:
1) Lower point of entry. You can design and put-up a site for less money by using the off-the-shelf design and templates for store or personal promotion sites.
2) If you have a working knowledge of HTML and graphics, but don't want to spend more time than you have to making updates, then Word Press works.
3) Hacks and cracks are all fixed quickly so the give and take is not so dire.
The moral of the story is: Speed costs money, how fast do you want to go? We can build you a race car or a touring car, just let us know your goals and we'll make it happen.
