All the time you hear the pitch, "we can get your website to be #1 on Google searches" so is there merit to this claim? Probably not. Why not? There a ton of factors that your website is judged against and 99% of search engine promotions efforts fail to produce the claims made when you signed-up for their program because they don't play by the rules.
Here are some questions to ask when you are approached by any search engine optimization company:
- How do you know that I do not already have page #1 results?
- What search terms can I find your company by?
- Most don't make it this far, but if you need more:
- How many years have you been in business?
- May I see a BBB report or some other validation?
- May I have examples of clients and the search terms they have been found against?
- That should about do it as nobody I have ever met from this field has ever cleared the bar, unfortunately as I've met a lot of these guys since 1997.
