The Power of your Domain Name

When it comes to naming your business one would be behooved to do a search for the available domain names concurrently so that you are well aware and prepared for any conflicts with competitors or anyone else doing business on the web under that name.

Here are things to consider when searching for a domain name that's right for your business:

1) Stick to .com only, unless you're a nonprofit (.org) or a school (.edu) as the .com version of a website and a domain name will always rank higher than any other extension. Do a search on any engine and see how many of the top results are anything outside of the .com versions.

2) You can and should have more than one domain name pointing to your site. Having mybusinessname.com is great but, superkeywords.com is as good and often better than. Search for, "music attorney" or "forklift orange county ca" and you can find Randal Neal Cohen and Beach City Lift as a result of keyword loaded domain names, just to show a couple of examples.

3) Keep it short and easy to remember and type, to the point of being sensible. gregisthebestwebguyever.com is a bit too long, no matter how accurate, so something like overthenet.com is better since they are redundant.

4) Get as many as you can afford. Why? You will have the liberty to use, or not, any and all as you wish so if you do not own them then someone else has this power against you. Keep the competition a step behind and get the advantage of power of keyword rich domain names for your business before someone else does as when it's gone, it's gone until you can pay big bucks to buy it from them.

5) Negative domain names should also be secured. What? gregisabigfatdoodoohead.com is not complimentary, so if I own it I won't have to worry about someone else buying it and using against me in a fit of jealousy.

OK, so how can we use these strategies to help drive more business to your business? Contact me today to explore all of your possible advantages.
